Moving into SIL: What to Expect in Your New Home

Moving into a new home is one of the most exciting steps you can take toward independence. If you’re preparing to move into Supported Independent Living (SIL), you likely have plenty of questions about what daily life will look like.

At Paramount Care SA, we believe that "home" should be a place where you feel safe, empowered, and empowered to grow. Here’s a look at what you can expect during your first few weeks in your new SIL home.

A Warm and Personal Welcome

From day one, your new space should feel like yours. You’ll be encouraged to bring your own furniture, photos, and decorations to make your bedroom reflect your personality. Our team will be there to help you settle in, learn the layout of the house, and introduce you to your new housemates.

Support Tailored to Your Routine

SIL isn't about being told what to do—it's about getting the help you need to do things yourself. Your support workers will work with you on a daily routine that fits your goals, which might include:

  • Skill Building : Learning to cook your favorite meals or doing your own laundry.

  • Personal Care : Assistance with morning and evening routines.

  • Health & Wellness : Managing medication and attending appointments.

Navigating Shared Living

If you’re sharing a home, you’ll be part of a small community. Expect regular "house meetings" where you and your housemates can discuss things like:

  • Weekly meal planning and grocery shopping.

  • Deciding on shared chores.

  • Planning fun group activities or outings.

Navigating Shared Living

The biggest "expectancy" in SIL is peace of mind. Whether it’s 2:00 PM or 2:00 AM, there is always someone available to assist you. Our team is trained to provide professional care that respects your privacy while ensuring your safety and well-being are always prioritized.
